Tetris Couldn't Succeed at This Gaming Ceremony — An Additional Classification May Address This Issue

Whenever a significant prize-giving event draws close, one notices a demand for the addition additional classifications to honor overlooked contributions and fill the passions of enthusiasts who have specialized interests.

My colleague previously argued supporting a scary games classification. That would be fantastic. The same goes for board games, which is a passionate advocate's mission. Yet I need to apologize in advance for pushing forward since similar to dedicated enthusiasts, I possess a compelling case for why my demand is the most urgent and important of all. This is the request: It's essential to create a category for puzzle games.

The Genre Classification Challenge

Organizing artistic expressions isn't exact; opinions vary greatly, and typically generate discussions concluding with vague boundaries. It's understandable that movie academies avoid this approach. But it is a necessary evil in the world of interactive entertainment, showing incredible range they hardly constitute a single creative category.

To recognize the complete range of achievement in video games to be recognized, and to ensure all game types to receive proper recognition, genre categories are essential.

Current Gaming Award Categories

Leading game ceremonies offer these award types recognizing Action-oriented games, Action/Adventure, Role-Playing, Combat games, Sim/Strategy, plus athletic and racing experiences. Between them, these six categories actually cover a lot of ground, allowing placement accommodating various experiences.

Not so for logic-based experiences. No suitable classification appears to put them. Think about these outstanding current releases, each quite distinct: structural challenges in a particular game, the pulse-pounding block-matching in a different title, engaging interpersonal challenges in another game. Which classification works within current classifications? Unfortunately, nowhere.

Recognition Challenges

There are dozens outstanding logic titles launched regularly that have no home during gaming ceremonies, if they accidentally match award groups including Handheld titles, Virtual reality experiences, or the extremely competitive independent game categories.

  • An iconic brain-teaser received no recognition completely during that awards season
  • A different innovative game missed out that year
  • Popular arranging title received no acknowledgment that year
  • Just some logic titles managed to sneak into independent or mobile categories

Value of Brain-Teasers

Frequently they represent compact experiences, but the art of the puzzle game is of massive significance. Iconic mobile puzzle games stand as the most-played games worldwide maintaining this status for over a decade.

The iconic tile-matching title rivals well-known building titles claiming status as best-selling game of all time; it additionally competes for top gaming experience. Logic titles represent cornerstones within interactive entertainment, and they are in conversation with diverse game types.

Recommendation and Reasoning

Puzzle games wouldn’t have that issue. You could fill a field of five interesting, varied, worthy titles annually without trouble — perhaps, with difficulty, because you’d have to leave many worthy titles.

Restating the point, these represent titles that otherwise have no home in important events. Logic title developers operate at the hard edge interactive creation, developing some of most fundamental forms within interactive entertainment. Just like film action specialists, they warrant appreciation. Don't make them wait decades.
